With war breaking out, inflation on the way and new Omicron subvariants, this year has been an eventful one, to say the least. Personally, there’s no better way to unwind than to spend my weekends being pampered by experts with massages and sweating it out in a sauna.

Steeped in rich Peranakan history, Joo Chiat is home to a host of charming boutique salons and a wide variety of fitness centres, quickly becoming a hot spot for wellness enthusiasts all over Singapore. This month, the neighbourhood is welcoming Soma Haus, a new wellness centre situated in the heart of Joo Chiat that aims to bring a multimodality approach to individual wellbeing and empower you to take charge of your health under the careful supervision of their health specialists.

Soma Haus is built on the desire to help people optimise their wellbeing and bring holistic wellness education to a broader audience. Believing that there are no shortcuts when it comes to looking after our health, Kathy Gabriel, Co-Founder and a fellow therapist at the Soma Haus adds that “[Soma Haus] aims to provide a haven for busy and overworked individuals in Singapore to unwind, connect and focus on their health in an enjoyable and sustainable way.”

Designed to create the most optimal environment for your body to heal and recover, you’ll find industry professionals, health specialists and modern technologies under one roof at the Soma Haus. The community wellness centre offers personalised treatments and forms of alternative therapy such as myofascial massages, craniosacral therapy and counselling to deliver an impactful self-care experience to our fast-paced, busy society.

What is myofascial massage?

A 50-minute massage intended to complement your existing recovery program with other therapists and healthcare practitioners, therapists at Soma Haus focuses on different layers of muscle tissue. They work progressively from superficial to deep tissue to help you release chronic patterns of tension in the soft tissues in your body and improve overall mobility. Myofascial massages are perfect for patients who have lost flexibility or function following an injury.

And, what is craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a practice that stems from osteopathy. It is a gentle and deeply restorative form of bodywork that uses light touch and subtle movements to support your central nervous system body’s innate ability to balance, restore and heal. These 50-minute sessions begin at SGD 160++ and are non-invasive. They work in tandem with your body’s natural intelligence to help you regulate and self-repair.

Alongside technology and services for physical health, such as ice baths, infrared saunas and sensory deprivation float pods, the holistic services, workshops and classes at Soma Haus all work together to provide you with the consistent maintenance, support and healing needed for you to recuperate and get a better grasp of your own wellbeing.

To celebrate their opening, Soma Haus is offering a founding members package with up to 50% off on services and treatments, which will only be available for purchase in-store within the first two weeks of its opening until 23rd July 2022.
