Massages are our go-to solution for most of our problems; whether it’s a sore back from sitting all day, aching muscles from an intense workout, disturbed sleep, or if we’re simply feeling stressed. A quick session and voilà, all better. But knowing that not all massages are created equal, The Soothe tested out a range of local treatments to point you in the right direction for when you need some pampering spas for massages.

Best for: A bespoke treatment | La Source | Starting from SGD 138

Nestled in a quiet corner of the Orchard Road district, La Source Spa is a tranquil and luxurious urban retreat that offers a full suite of premium face, body and hair services. The interior of the spa is light, bright and breezy, putting you at ease as soon as you walk in. Massages include La Ritual, which focuses on kneading away tension, La Rejuvenation, the spa’s signature deep tissue massage, and La Aroma Indulgence. What we love is how the spa places emphasis on personalising each experience down to the smallest detail; whether you want the masseuse to dig deep on your shoulders and back but keep it light on the arms, they have you covered.

Best for: A full day experience | Auriga Spa’s Wellbeing Packages | Starting from SGD 588

Nestled in the lush rainforest of Sentosa Island, Auriga at Capella Singapore host exemplary wellbeing packages which last for four hours and include a healthy meal at The Knolls. The full-body massage is the highlight, which is executed impeccably by a highly-trained masseuse while you lay on a perfectly-heated massage bed. Guests can also enjoy the spa facilities, which include a tropical rain shower, hot jacuzzi and a steam sauna room. Auriga spa is launching a revamped wellness menu in December, featuring new facial treatments and locally-inspired therapies.

Best for: An invigorating experience | COMO Shambala’s Deep Tissue Massage | Starting from SGD 150

As soon as you walk through the doors of COMO Shambhala, you’ll be enveloped in their signature Invigorate scent of eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender and geranium. The nurturing COMO Shambhala Massage is ideal for those who are looking to improve their general wellbeing and to rebalance body and mind. Therapists use use their signature blended massage oils to completely calm and rejuvenate, and we love that the massage starts from your ankles and works its way up.

Best for: Value for money | OD Wellness’s Foot and Back Massage | Starting from SGD 38

With numerous branches throughout Singapore, OD Wellness is a reliable, affordable massage spot. While the price point is very competitive, the brand does not compromise on the quality of the massages given, or on hygiene. We’ve always found the spa to be very clean, though don’t expect the facilities or massage bed to be as premium as more luxury spas. Our favourite therapy is the foot and back massage combo.

Best for: New-age therapy | Spa Esprit’s Super Vibrator | Starting from SGD 100 (first trial)

As Singapore’s favourite homegrown apothecary spa since 1996, Spa Esprit is the ultimate a space for the mind, body and spirit to find serenity. Their new experience, the Super Vibrator, is a new-age therapy based upon energy healing. The experience starts with a unique energy reading which determines the focus for your following massage. A Tibetan singing bowl is also placed on your stomach to vibrate you gently into a state of zen.
