Do you dread the feeling of foundation caked on your face? We feel you. Are you absolutely clueless when it comes to putting on makeup? Eyeshadow, what..? If you're not a makeup maven but want to put your best face forward this festive season, The Soothe has a couple of suggestions for you. We spoke to makeup lovers and minimalists alike to figure out how exactly we can get glowing, flawless complexion with flattering essentials to take your festive makeup looks to another level.

Sigi Skin Dew Potion

For a glowing base without looking greasy

Try Dew Potion Essence Mist (S$48) from local vegan skincare brand Sigi Skin. This magic mist in a bottle is the perfect perk-me-up before festive parties. Its blend of antioxidants such as Chamomile, Aqua 3G, Macqui Berry, and Liquorice help retain moisture and soothe redness. In addition, it leaves the skin dewy and plump without leaving an oily cast. If you're looking to elevate your glow further, opt for Tata Harper's Retinoic Nutrient Face Oil (S$179). Tata Harper's products are free from sulfates, mineral oil, phthalates and significant amounts of synthetic fragrance.

For calm, clear skin, without the "cake face"

After setting a clean canvas, even out your skin tone and correct those pesky spots. Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint (S$82) is a clean, light-coverage, tinted mineral SPF 40 serum that boosts skincare benefits. It's silicone-free, fragrance-free, chemical screen-free, oil-free, non-comedogenic, and safe for sensitive skin.

Clean beauty brand Tarte's Shape Tape Contour Concealer (S$42) is a lifesaver when it comes to correcting dark spots, blemishes and dark under-eye circles that could form from hitting those festive parties too hard. To best conceal dark circles, trace the concealer onto the undereye area in a triangle of light formation and blend.

For a pop of colour, without looking like a clown

Liven up your face with a pop of colour with Pixi's On-the-Glow Blush (S$27). Formulated with Ginseng, aloe vera and a unique mix of fruit extracts, this tinted balm provides a hint of natural colour while hydrating and conditioning skin. The product is incredibly lightweight and glides on like a dream, and you'll barely notice you have makeup on. Try one shade on cheeks or lips to look pulled-together instantly.

For the sultry red that'll turn heads at your festive soiree, try Remic Organic Matte Lipstick in Thorny Red (S$29), available on local natural beauty e-retailer, Powella. This lippy is organic certified and uses natural ingredients; you will be doing your lips and your loved ones a favour. Furthermore, it's matte, so it doesn't transfer onto your face mask.

For enchanting peepers, without the smokey eye mess

This writer considers herself a face, lips, then eyes sort of girl. Are you? There's no easier way to glam up your makeup look than with a dash of something sparkly. Go easy on the shimmer as the too much of a good thing rule holds true. Natural, organic cult brand RMS Beauty's Eyeshadow Cream Polish (S$48) does the sparkly trick. Apply sparingly with a makeup brush or fingers and blend in firmly for better adherence.

Apply natural beauty brand Lily Lolo's Big Lash Mascara (S$39) and experience your fullest, longest, biggest lashes yet to finish your makeup look.
