It’s safe to say that all of us are itching to travel again. After the tourism industry came to a complete standstill last year due to COVID-19, we had plenty of time to reconsider our priorities when it comes to vacations. More of us now lean towards health oriented trips that allows us to step back from the hustle and bustle, relieve stress, provide a fresh perspective and boost our overall physical and mental well-being.

Wellness tourism, defined as travel associated with the pursuit of maintaining or enhancing one’s personal wellbeing by the Global Wellness Institute, has grown steadily since 2015, with further growth expected in the next few years. Restrictions on social interactions and WFH routines in the current pandemic setting, as well as strong advocation by professional athletes, have also called to attention the importance of caring for our mental health and overall well-being.

If you’re thinking of going on a wellness getaway and have completed the full regime of vaccines on the WHO’s Emergency Use listing, here’s some good news! Leisure travel to Germany is available starting from Sept 8 under the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL). The airlines offering VTL flights are Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa and Royal Brunei Airlines. Here’s a list of wellness hotels and experiences we think you should check out and what’s good to do there for the ultimate healing getaway.
