Whether you want to update your study at home, revamp a kids’ bedroom, or makeover a balcony space, there’s somewhere for all (and it’s not IKEA). Read on as we round up some of our favourite home décor stores in Singapore to shop from in 2021.

Lims Holland Village

Known as ‘Singapore’s oldest Bohemian enclave’ in the 70’s, Lim’s Art and Craft (at the time) developed into a modern avatar in 2016 with their first shop at Holland Village. Whether you’re a newly arrived expat looking for a starting point for your home décor, newlyweds looking for a statement piece of antique Chinese furniture, or just want a housewarming gift, this is for you. The store stocks stunning homeware and décor pieces that balance design aesthetic and functionality. They also have stores at other spots in Singapore or you can shop online.

House of AnLi

House of AnLi is a gorgeous homeware and décor store at Tanglin Mall filled with all sorts of luxe accents. There’s plenty to choose from bedding to dining to kids’ furniture. They also offer bespoke services for soft furnishings, like made-to-order curtains or upholstery for some of your old sentimental pieces that you can’t bear to let go off (we all have one of those). That’s not all — this fabulous design store also has two cafés (upstairs and downstairs) to grab food on the go while you’re busy shopping.

Originals

One of Singapore’s favourite furniture stores, Originals is a must if you’re looking for comfort, functionality and style — think they have some of the most stylish and hard-wearing outdoor furniture collections on our Red Dot. From modern Scandinavian pieces to vintage rugs from Turkey, they’re big on simple and classic designs, and all items come with sustainability in mind. As a bid to protect the planet, Originals also recycle and customise furniture to live a second life. Shop at their Bukit Batok store or on the web.

Nook & Cranny

If you’re a lover of all things vintage, Nook & Cranny might be your next best friend.  They stock everything right from wall clocks to herb pots and wall art. We love their selection of rugs, vintage cabinets, lamps and photo frames. Not only do they have the some of the coolest décor pieces in Singapore, but they’re also affordable, which makes it even more fun shopping here. Their 7,000 sq. ft. store also has two mattress galleries by Sofzsleen and King Koil. Oh, and they also boast a brilliant ‘styles’ section on their website that offers tips if you’re in need of some home interior design inspiration. Visit their studio at Grandstand Turf City.

They have a megastore at ION, Orchard that is home to the best homeware and décor collections in the city. Stocking everything from kitchenware to homeware and décor all under one roof. In many sections, products are arranged according to the price so you can stick to browsing within your budget, although prices are on the higher end of the spectrum. Apart from home décor, they also have a full range of household collections including sofas, mattresses, beds, kitchen appliances and dining sets. Visit their showroom pop up at Kalang Avenue or browse online.

Castlery

Castlery is probably the most popular online furniture store in Singapore that stocks a curated range of furniture that is honestly priced and looks unique. Their designs feature a blend of both mid-century and modern contemporary inspirations, and we love that they collaborate with renowned global designers to create exclusive designer collaborations minus the hefty price tag. Look up their online store or swing by their studio at Keppel road.

Journey East

With its humble beginnings in 1995 at a small outlet in Dempsey, Journey East has become the go-to for beautifully restored art deco and antique wooden furniture. The pieces date back to the late ’20s to the ’60s with a distinctly European flair. Their drive for teak wood and antique craftsmanship have pushed them to expand their offerings into eco-friendly reclaimed teak wood furniture, brutalist style iron-laden furniture, as well as contemporary designer furniture pieces and home accessories. Ideal for folks looking to add in a bit of history coupled with a sustainability ethic to their home. Visit their outlet or website.
