Man in mediating pose, Meditation how to by The Soothe

If you’ve been practising mindfulness meditation for a while, chances are you’ve experienced moments of feeling calmer, less stressed and happier. You may have felt that meditation provided anxiety relief, reduced levels of depression, greater productivity, even enhanced sleep. You might have become more aware and appreciative for people, animals and the environment.

There are many benefits of meditation, one of them being that even if you think you’ve mastered the art, there’s always something new to learn. If you’re ready to dial up healing your meditation practice, let us introduce you this nifty little technique for karmic clearing.

What karmic state are you in?

6 Realms Meditation Karmic Clearing is a quick and easy practice which borrows ideas from the hallmark Buddhist text, The Tibetan Book of the Dead. Its core principle is that we can move to higher states of consciousness by accumulating good karma and releasing bad karma across six unique states (or realms) of consciousness. The first step, is to understand these states:

  • The God Realm is a little like perfection. In this state we always get what we want when we want it — but each time we receive we burn our accumulated good karma. When always asking and receiving, it’s easy to become too demanding or to take things for granted.  We accumulate bad karma when we’re unwilling to share our rewards, or we live in fear of this time coming to an end. This state of consciousness is associated with selfishness, loneliness fear of loss and a lack of gratitude

  • The Demi-God Realm is the battleground of elite beings who are in a state of constant competition. In this state of mind, we strive for perfection and are constantly preparing for attack. We accumulate bad karma through envy, jealousy, greed for power, anxiety and fear of failure

  • In Human Realm we have freedom of choice. We accumulate bad karma when the choices we make cause us and others suffering. This state of mind is associated with indecisiveness, self-doubt and fear of change

  • In Animal Realm we feel over-worked, driven tirelessly and unable to take control of our circumstances. It’s associated with feelings of exhaustion, powerlessness and being unappreciated

  • Hungry Ghost Realm is associated with poverty consciousness as well as feelings of being unseen or depressed.  We accumulate bad karma by being greedy, over-indulging and never being satisfied by what have

  • The Hell Realm includes all feelings of anger, hate, and ideas of violence and torture

  • Everyone experiences some form of suffering from each of these six states of consciousness. You could associate them with competitive work colleagues, never-satisfied mother-laws, a fear of not being ‘good enough’ or a constant resentment at today’s pandemic situation. All of these emotions are normal, and just part of our human psyche.

Add a clearing intention

  • Once you’re aware of the six realms, you can add this simple practice onto your daily meditation to clear accumulated bad karma and eliminate negative feelings. It’s quick and easy, and with regular use it will super-charge your daily practice.

  • Get settled into a comfortable position. Feel free to sit cross-legged on the floor, sitting in a chair or standing

  • Take 4–5 slow breaths in and out, close your eyes and gently bring your awareness to the centre of your head

  • Set your intention to clear your karmic seeds associated with the six realms.  Breathe quietly into your head space. Recite the words ‘Thank you. I love you. I am sorry. Forgive me. World Service. Soul Plan’

  • Then drop your attention to the heart space. Breathe quietly into the heath space and receive the words ‘Thank you. I love you. I am sorry. Forgive me. World Service. Soul Plan’

  • Then drop your attention to the belly. Breathe quietly into the belly region and recite the words ‘Thank you. I love you. I am sorry. Forgive me. World Service. Soul Plan’

  • Continue with your usual mediation practice
