If you’re on the hunt for a stylish reusable water bottle that fits into your lifestyle, look no further.

Our bodies are roughly 60% water, and experts commonly recommend drinking about two litres of water every day. This is especially important in hotter climates, where drinking plenty of water helps to lower the body temperature and replace any fluid lost through sweating, helping to prevent us from becoming dehydrated.

Whilst we’re all about getting our daily dose of H20, we’re keen to do so in an eco-friendly fashion as we do our part to help Singapore become a Zero Waste Nation. The National Environmental Agency’s 2019 report on Waste Statistics and Overall Recycling found that 930,000 tons of plastic waste was generated throughout the year — not cool!

With this in mind, we’ve scoured the city and rounded up a selection of reusable water bottles that can not only contribute to saving the planet by cutting back on single-use plastic, but can also fit stylishly into our daily routines.

Here are our best water bottle brand recommendations:

BEST FOR: Style as you sip | BKR Water Bottle in Spiked Prenup | SGD 84

BKR water bottles have garnered somewhat of a cult status thanks to their eye-catching designs and mix and match potential. We love the spiked silicone sleeves (which are removable and interchangeable, so you can mix your water bottle look to suit your mood), and the Prenup colour is a chic rose gold-esque option (and excellent talking point).

The water bottle is made of glass (protected by the skin so no need to worry about breakage) and holds up to 1000ML (500ml BKRs are also available), meaning you don’t need to worry about constantly refilling it. The only downfall is that it is on the heavier side and slightly clunky to carry, so we wouldn’t recommend this if you’re running around town.

In a genius move, the BKR team also created Compact Caps (SGD 15), which you can clip one of their Paris Water Balms (SGD 35) into, creating a 2-in-1 water bottle/lip balm.

BEST FOR: Self-cleaning on the move | LARQ Self-Cleaning Water Bottle | SGD 141

It might be on the pricier end of the spectrum, but LARQ Self-Cleaning Water Bottles are brilliant if you’re on the move and filling up from different taps or water supplies, as they cleverly use UV light to purify water, eradicating germs and bacteria.

The bottle comes with a USB charging cord. Once your bottle is charged, you can fill up from any water source (although do note that the bottle purifies but does not filter water) without worrying about it being unhygienic.

There are two settings — Normal and Adventure — with Adventure being recommended if you’re filling up from a natural water source. The Adventure mode takes a little longer than Normal mode (three minutes compared to one), but once the cycle is complete, both your water and bottle are clean.

Pretty impressive, right?

Singapore’s drinking water is of a high standard and is regularly tested and monitored, so if you’re looking for a bottle simply to carry to the gym/office/mall, then the LARQ bottle is likely not worth the splurge. However, if you’re planning a long escapade, this could be a lifesaver.

BEST FOR: Sport and Running | Lululemon Stay Hot Keep Cold Bottle | SGD 52

It’s hardly surprising that our sporty option comes from Lululemon.

While they have a range of reusable water bottle options, this is a sure-fire favourite amongst The Soothe team thanks to its sleek lightweight design and ability to actually keep our water cool — even in the Singapore sunshine  — all day long.

The bottle was specifically designed for running, and its slimmer diameter makes it easy to hold. The double wall prevents condensation appearing, eliminating the risk of the bottle slipping out of your hand.

Lululemon Stay Hot Keep Cold Bottle is available in a few colours — we love Carnation Red for a statement addition to neutral activewear looks.
