6 Sexual Health and Wellness Brands Based in Singapore You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

Sexual health was also positively associated with improved mental health

While quarantine measures have caused many people and industries mayhem, the Sexual Wellness industry continues to climax.

A few months ago, I needed some small hair clips. I went to multiple Watsons and Guardian locations and to my surprise, I couldn’t find any small hair clips, instead what I found at all their locations was an entire section dedicated to pleasure – several vibrator options.

This is when I knew that sexual wellness is slowly becoming a normal part of our everyday lives. We are living in one of the most exciting times in history when it comes to our health, wellbeing, and lifestyle choices. More and more people are waking up to the importance of how the quality of their choices affects their overall health and vitality.

Consumers have changed attitudes and adopted lifestyle changes that improve health, prevent disease, enrich their quality of life and sense of wellbeing. In other words, wellness has become proactive, powered by self-responsibility.

Wellness is also multi-dimensional

·      Spiritual

·      Mental

·      Physical

·      Emotional

·      Social

·      Self - Care

·      Sexual

In the last several years, sexual wellness has been finally getting the proper attention it deserves for several reasons.

1)    There has been a massive shift between millennials and Gen Zers who consider their sexual wellness as part of their self-care and overall wellbeing.

2)    This sector is finally being accepted by some visionary investors and retailers due to consumer demand as well as many new brands entering the market.

3)    There are currently over 200+ sex-related podcasts. During Covid, sex toy companies in Canada and around the world have recorded record sales.

What has remained a taboo topic for generations is now breaking barriers and into the mainstream with as many subcategories as self-care.

To explore more, here are 6 sexual wellness brands, companies, and podcasts based in Singapore you’ve probably never heard of:

1. Confident Lovers – Re-defining sexuality for singles and couples, this website is dedicated to lovers who crave depth, pleasure, and connection. Sexual expression changes at different stages in our lives— it can be fun, deep, unpredictable, experimental, playful, wild, awkward, uncertain, and full of mystery.

Increasing our sexual knowledge gives us the opportunity to explore our sexuality in ways we didn’t realise was possible.

This site shines a light on a range of topics:

·      Female Sexuality

·      Male Sexuality

·      Sexual Health

·      Erotic Touch

·      Passionate Communication

·      Ancient Sexual Wisdom (Taoism and Tantra)

Their Erotic Touch course offers very intimate gifts you can give to your lover for Valentine’s Day or Birthday.

Smile Makers is on a mission to normalize the perception of female sexuality by offering a line of premium sexual wellness products

2. Smile Makers – Passionate about female sexual health and pleasure, they believe that sex is a natural and enjoyable part of life and should be treated as such. They were one of the first companies to sell their products to retailers in the health and beauty categories instead of the old-school dark sex shops.

They have one criteria for everything related to the brand: They have to feel comfortable showing it to their mothers. They create the best sensual and colourful products. They only work with first-class suppliers with the strictest safety and quality standards to bring you premium 100% body-safe products.

Happiness gadgets. Glee contraptions. Joy creators. Vibrators. Call them what you will, they know exactly how to keep a smile on your dial.

3. Good Vibes –   Meryl Lim and Jacqueline Kee are on a mission to “liberate true sexual satisfaction and enable a journey of happiness guided by one’s true pleasure”.

They believe that “all women should be free to experience true sensual pleasures with an inborn connection that unleashes their own sexual potential”.

Check out their viberlicious blog for more fun ideas to incorporate into your sex life.

4. Pink Lifestyle – If you are the type of person who feels more comfortable buying pleasure products from a store instead of online while speaking to a sales associate to find out which products best fit your needs then Pink lifestyle is your place. Their main branch is located at ISETAN Scotts Shaw House LEVEL 2.

Maison Maiko offers sexual wellness goodies

5. MaisonMika –  You gotta love a company who’s tagline is “Your Pleasure Is Our Passion.” Maison Mika offers a range of goodies for all your sexual exploration needs. To name a few:

And so much more.

Prior to Covid, they also hosted hen parties, private sex toy workshops and free consultations. Hopefully, one day soon that will all come back.

6. Ferne Health – Health screening in the comfort of your own home. We all know the awkward visits to the Dr.’s office to get tested for STD’s and other fertility health screenings can be stale, sometimes uncomfortable and at times judgmental.

This company is solving that very problem by providing non-judgmental healthcare that respects your privacy, lifestyle and wellbeing.

Popular services include:

·      Common STD test (HIV, syphilis and more)

·      Gonorrhea and Chlamydia

·      Morning after pill

· STD Tele-Consultation

Better In Bed Podcast Sara Tang

BONUS : Better In Bed Podcast – One of the best podcasts to learn about everything sexuality. Sara Tang was born in Singapore and is currently living in Hong Kong. She’s a great interviewer who’s on a mission to “make the world a more sex-positive place”.

During her interviews, Sara covers a range of topics by interviewing guests who share their expertise.

While Sara is a certified sex coach, an educator and a writer, her podcast is less about being a guru or sounding academic and more about having a fun, friendly, and educational conversation about sex.

This podcast is a great resource to learn about sexuality.

The Future Of Sexual Health & Wellness

There is a lot of innovation happening in this space as more and more people are getting comfortable with normalising what should already be normal by “honestly talking about their sexuality” without shame, guilt, anxiety, or nervous giggles.

Sexual health and wellness are just as important as every other self-care routine.
