After a long-drawn-out battle with the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has finally eased almost all the social restrictions. Nevertheless, many of us are feeling drained and weary, dealing with pandemic fatigue and in some cases post-traumatic stress. Recognising the importance of yoga and meditation to heal and recenter, SOMA’s BhiShakti (meaning ‘heal’ in Sanskrit) Retreat has been organised to pay homage to the International Day of Yoga – which aims to heal tired souls.

Activities will include forest bathing, sound healing and rehabilitative pilates.

Forest Bathing

Forest bathing, also known as shinrin-yoku, initially originated from Japan to help urban dwellers de-stress, reconnect with nature and gain a better appreciation for the flora and fauna around them. This practice has rapidly gained popularity in the rest of the world, as well as Singapore.

Just ask Pang Sze Jia. She had a bright career as a banker in Malaysia, but the long hours at work took its toll. Discovering yoga through a book by Sadhguru turned out to be a life-changing experience for her as she found her calling – becoming a yoga instructor to help others.

Besides conducting forest bathing sessions, Sze Jia also specializes in Surya Shakti, Nadi Shuddhi, Chit Shakti and AUM Chanting. Participants can transcend the limits of the mind and manifest positive change with these techniques.

Sound Healing

Most of us know that listening to classical music has been proven to be an effective stress reliever. But did you know that the sounds emanating from singing bowls can help to treat a variety of ailments?

As a Kundalini Yoga and Meditation teacher, certified hypnotherapist and emotional freedom therapist, Shirley Tai can attest to the benefits of singing bowls as well as their healing properties.

In fact, a recent scientific study found that participants who meditated with singing bowls “reported significantly less tension, anger, fatigue, and depressed mood”.

Most of us would have experienced back pain, muscle fatigue and other physical ailments from the desk-bound nature of our jobs. Pilates, which is a non-intensive exercise has numerous benefits for your physical as well as mental well-being, ideal for those wanting to soothe tired muscles, aching calves and lead a pain-free life.

You will be in good hands with Ardella, who is a Pilates instructor, pole artist and aerialist who has over 8 years of teaching experience in both Singapore and Australia.

Dates and timing

The event will be held by SOMA Wellness Singapore, Villa Samadhi Singapore and Tamarind Hill Singapore on the 18th and 19th of June from 8am to 3pm on Day 1 and 8am to 2pm on Day 2.
